Insomnia's always the worst, but it for many women over 40, it can increase with perimenopause and menopause.

Below, you'll find a few lifestyle shifts and magic tricks that have me (and my clients) reclaim our sleep.
You’re tired, so you lay down and go to sleep.
In the middle of the night, for whatever reason (a child, a storm, a dream, a noise, the room temperature), you wake up.
Suddenly, your entire life “To Do List” floods into the forefront of your mind.
Your heartbeat speeds up, you feel hot, uncomfortable, and now you’re WIDE awake.
As soon as that happens, you know: it’s all over.
You can’t sleep, you have a really big day tomorrow, and now you’re going to be exhausted, and then that fearful, awful cycle repeats itself for the next...
Did you know that women are more likely to suffer from stress than men? Although it's something we "manage," it's not something to be taken lightly. Women over 40 should take serious steps to reduce their stress load not just for anti-aging and longevity factors, but also because it's a contributing factor for heart disease— a leading cause of death for women.
Scary— I know. But how many times have you started a sentence with, "Things are just really busy right now?" For many of us, it's our motto! But the truth is, neglecting ourselves for the sake of an endless To Do List is a dangerous practice to get into.
In the 3 Step Guide to Reducing Stress below, I'll walk you through some expert strategies to reduce your stress load and increase your nourishment so you can start living happier and healthier today.
Social media is flooded with moms volunteering at their kid’s school, becoming...
What if I told you that you could enjoy your holidays without feeling guilty for the wine you drank, the cookies you ate, or the heavy meals you consumed?
It’s possible, and here’s why:
Losing weight is just as much about HOW you eat, as it is about WHAT you eat. As a Healthy Lifestyle coach, I’ve witnessed this firsthand with dozens of clients.
Many women I work with know what they need to do to lose weight (exercise, eat healthier), but they still have trouble losing it and keeping it off. Why? Because of other factors.
The truth is, for women, weight loss is both a physical and spiritual journey.
So, are you ready to happily approach your holidays with ease, instead of stress?
Are you quickly, secretly, shoving dessert into your mouth when...
Ever heard the phrase “fake it til you make it?”
Loving ourselves and our bodies is really hard to do. After all, our culture has done QUITE a number on us. For years, through TV, movies, magazines and the internet, we’ve usually only seen ONE version of “beauty” reflected back at us.
Case in point: this is what comes up when I google “beautiful woman”:
Long straight blonde hair, blue eyes, light skin, small nose, size 2, early 20’s…
Such a tiny percentage of us actually look like that! Aside from the fact that it’d be incredibly boring if we all did; most of these images are retouched, photoshopped, and augmented in some way. Even if we know better, seeing these images over and over totally messes with our brains. It reinforces a singular sense of beauty and leaves out all of the other ways in which women all over the world are considered...
Unfortunately, most women and girls suffer from some form of body shame.
It usually happens early on and stays with us throughout the rest of our lives. The majority of my clients struggle with body shame and being able to love themselves. They often say that they want to lose weight or get into shape so that they can be happy with themselves and feel better.
However, my belief is that in order to lose the weight or get healthier you must learn to love yourself FIRST.
I spent the majority of my life hating my body. In elementary school, I was so skinny that I would get made fun of. Then when I hit puberty, I noticed my thighs were getting bigger and began rubbing together. Everything was changing, and even when I exercised more or deprived myself of food I still didn’t feel happy. Everywhere I looked there were images of beautiful women that were everything that I felt I wasn’t. As I look back at that little girl, I wish I...
What if the stress from your workday no longer spilled over into your home environment?

While deep breathing is an effective way to reduce stress and I do recommend it to my clients, sometimes we just don’t feel like it. Sometimes, we feel like actually holding our breath, or being upset!
Yet, here we are stuck in the car after a long day of work and within a few minutes we must compartmentalize our work day and come home to our family.
So, the question is: how can you change your state when you’re gritting your teeth and you don’t feel like taking a deep breath?
Here are 3 of my go-to’s in concrete, doable action steps that take you from the stressed...
I get it: metabolism is a tricky thing to comprehend. In fact, it took me years (and plenty of mistakes) before I really understood how brilliant our bodies actually are, and how I could best support my metabolism, rather than confuse it.
What is "Metabolism" anyway?
Here's why it's confusing: your metabolism is not "a thing," (like an organ), but rather, a series of processes that, together, break down food and convert it into energy.
Based on many factors, your metabolism either functions optimally, or, it can become quite sluggish, which can lead to weight gain and discomfort.
I’ve broken down the 5 core metabolism mistakes we make in the hopes that YOU can better understand the way your brilliant body works, and harness its power for your benefit.
Mistake #1: Blaming “Genetics”
“I eat healthily and I exercise and I still can’t seem to lose the weight”— is a common frustration...
Did you know that 98% of people who go on diets to lose weight gain their original weight back – and then some?
It goes like this:
You hear about the latest fad diet, check out some pretty amazing testimonials and before/after pics on Instagram, buy the food/pills/shakes/teas/membership required. You are PUMPED. This is going to be your triumphant attempt at losing the extra weight you’ve been struggling with for years.
Except, you don’t…
And so the cycle repeats itself as you get increasingly frustrated with your weight (and yourself) or give up and think that you’ll never be able to lose the weight.
I promise it’s not you.
Here are the top 3 real reasons why fad diets don’t work:
1. Your Body Thinks You’re Starving
The first problem with fad diets is that when you focus on losing weight – instead of fat – you lose sight of feeding your body with the right nutrients for it to function at its best.
You might see...
Do you ever feel helpless to your sugar & carb cravings?
You walk into the grocery store with the best intentions and then you walk past the bakery and the smell hypnotizes you, or you’re standing at the checkout line and the candy bars scream your name?
Maybe you grew up having ice cream after dinner and you can’t imagine not having something sweet after your meal.
Or perhaps you are in the middle of a project and you find yourself staring at your pantry even when you know you are not hungry so that you can feel better? Can you relate? You are not alone.
The above scenarios are not random.
They are my own personal experiences.
As a child, I don’t remember ever having any cravings that made me feel out of control.
But as I got older, things changed.
I started to feel like I had NO CHOICE and sometimes, I knew I was emotionally stuffing my feelings. Other times, it felt like my body was seriously craving carbs and sugar.
As a health coach, the #1...
